Hello! My name is Alexis Resendez and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Aronsen Counseling Services. I have a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. I have thorough experience working with voluntary clients, as well as clients who have been mandated by the Department of Child and Family Services. I have worked with adults, children, and adolescents addressing a diverse range of issues such as domestic violence, bereavement, depression, relationship dissatisfaction, job stress, and eating disorders, among others. As your therapist, my hope is for you to see the possibilities for a more enhanced life and seek opportunities for growth at the pace you feel most comfortable. When working with a client, I place an emphasis on establishing a client-therapist relationship that is rooted in respect, authenticity, and warmth. I understand that in the therapy room, discussions may feel heavy, so I like to make space for humor and lightheartedness. I never want my clients to feel like they need to filter what they communicate or how they communicate. I work from an integrated approach, meaning the way that I conceptualize issues may vary to create a treatment plan most suitable to the issues being presented. At the foundation, my work with clients is primarily rooted in psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy models. When I am not providing therapy, I am gardening, cooking my favorite meals, riding e-bikes at the beach, or attending a Pilates class. I love living life to the fullest with my loved ones and appreciating the warm weather here on the Central Coast!
