EQUINE THERAPY
SARAH HOLCOMB AMFT #148364
With more than seven years of specialized experience in trauma-informed care, I have dedicated my career to supporting children, adolescents, and families navigating the child welfare system. My clinical work includes extensive experience with foster families, alternative caregivers, and youth from complex or nontraditional family structures. I specialize in working with teenagers and difficult-to-reach children who may feel resistant to traditional talk therapy, and my easygoing, relaxed personality helps clients feel comfortable, grounded, and safe enough to explore their experiences at a pace that feels manageable.
Alongside my therapeutic background, I bring over twenty years of horse experience and a strong foundation in natural horsemanship. I am deeply inspired by the ways horses support healing, connection, and growth. Equine-assisted psychotherapy offers a powerful modality not only for children and teens, but also for postpartum mothers, veterans, and adults seeking to heal trauma, strengthen attachment patterns, or reconnect with themselves. Horses naturally promote trust-building, increase awareness of social cues, and offer an authentic relational experience that can help bridge gaps—between horse and human, and ultimately between people in a client’s everyday life.
Why Choose Our Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy Program
Our program is ideal for anyone seeking a therapeutic approach that goes beyond the traditional office setting. Equine-assisted psychotherapy provides a unique, somatic, and externalized experience that is especially meaningful for individuals who feel resistant to talk therapy or who benefit from action-oriented, experiential work. Through interactions with horses, clients learn about boundaries, trust, communication, attachment styles, and emotional regulation in a way that feels organic and deeply connected.
This modality supports a wide range of clients—children, teens, adults, veterans, postpartum mothers, and individuals healing from trauma or attachment wounds. Horses offer honest, nonjudgmental feedback that helps clients increase self-awareness, build confidence, and strengthen relational capacities. No prior horse experience is required; only openness and willingness to engage in the process.
Our mission is to build self-esteem, encourage reflection, support trauma healing, and increase the ability to manage stressors and daily life functioning. To make this unique service more accessible, we are able to bill insurance, providing families and individuals a more affordable path to a powerful therapeutic experience.
Whether you or your loved one is seeking deeper connection, emotional growth, or a more embodied healing process, our equine-assisted psychotherapy program offers a supportive, meaningful pathway toward lasting change.
